Veteran Journalist Uche Uwah to Lead Network as Executive Producer

ATLANTA – Spectrum News today announced the launch of Spectrum News Georgia, bringing its award-winning local journalism to the Spectrum TV lineup. Now available to Spectrum TV customers across the state on channel 1, Spectrum News Georgia is available 24/7, featuring local headlines every 15 minutes and hyperlocal weather forecasts every 10 minutes on the 1s. The network also is available to Spectrum customers via the Spectrum News App on mobile, Xumo Stream Box, Roku and Apple TV.

"On behalf of the State of Georgia, congratulations to Spectrum News on their launch in the Peach State," said Governor Brian Kemp. "From continuous weather updates to breaking news, we look forward to Spectrum News Georgia helping our citizens and their families receive the information they need statewide."

With more than 25 years of local, national, and political journalism experience, Uche Uwah has been named Executive Producer for the network. Uwah began his journalism career in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1997 and has worked at WPEC in West Palm Beach, Florida, WSVN in Miami, Hearst Television in Oklahoma, and WRC-TV, an NBC affiliate in Washington D.C. Prior to joining Spectrum News, he spent three years at CBS News in New York City, initially as producer of the local 6 p.m. newscast on CBS and most recently as Special Assignment Producer, a role in which he launched a weeknight primetime local newscast for CBS in Atlanta.

“My experience covering the Atlanta region has prepared me for the important role that Spectrum News’ community-focused reporting will play for Georgians,” said Uwah. “Viewers across the state will benefit from Spectrum News’ trustworthy and balanced coverage, provided by local, on-the-ground journalists and the network’s extensive reporting from across the country.”

A hallmark of Spectrum News, the network embeds journalists in its communities, providing coverage that reflects and is informed by the issues that matter most to local viewers. Spectrum News Georgia will focus on Atlanta, Athens, Lawrenceville, McDonough, and Smyrna; Georgia native AJ Douglas will report on Atlanta with a focus on Cobb and Fulton Counties, and Jasmine Casimir, who has been working in Atlanta since 2022, will cover Henry and Newton Counties.

Averaging 1.8 million daily viewing households across its linear and digital platforms, Spectrum Networks are the most watched news network among Spectrum customers, outpacing local news on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, as well as 24-hour cable networks CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.*

Spectrum News has continued to expand its reach in recent years, launching several local linear TV news networks, a streaming news network, Spectrum News+; a Spanish-language news network, Spectrum Noticias; a mobile news app currently with more than 5.5 million downloads; and creating its local connected TV news app on Xumo Stream Box, Roku and Apple TV, underscoring its commitment to making Spectrum News available and accessible across multiple platforms.

*Spectrum set-top box and streaming data is sourced from all markets where Spectrum News has distribution, and are based on a minimum threshold of five consecutive minutes of viewing on one station to count as a viewing HH. Household viewership data January 1 through September 30, 2025.
