PORTLAND, Maine – Spectrum News today announced the linear TV launch of its 24/7 news network serving Spectrum customers throughout Maine. Previously launched as a streaming network in fall of 2023, Spectrum News Maine features local headlines at the top and bottom of every hour and hyperlocal weather forecasts every 10 minutes on the 1’s. The new linear network is available to Spectrum customers on channel 1, as well as the Spectrum News App for mobile, Xumo Stream Box, Roku and Apple TV.

Spectrum News Maine integrates Spectrum News+, which curates nationally relevant local stories from across the country, and local coverage from on-the-ground reporters in Maine.

“We are living in a time when reliable local news is more important – and harder to find – than it has ever been,” said Sam Singal, Group Vice President Editorial and Content Spectrum Networks. “All of our Spectrum News networks are driven by a deep commitment to providing objective and trusted journalism, but as a Mainer with family in the state, I’m especially looking forward to sharing our work with communities there.”

Spectrum Local News Coverage Has Become Integral to Maine Communities

Since its 2021 launch as a digital-only local news platform in the state, Spectrum News has established itself in the Maine community, covering local conservation efforts, severe weather, and breaking news events. In moments of celebration or crisis, Spectrum News provides a trusted voice for audiences to turn to, with reporting that keeps citizens informed and connected.

Among Spectrum customers, Spectrum News consistently outperforms the major cable and broadcast news networks, averaging 2 million daily viewing households in 2023 across its linear and digital platforms spanning California, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.*

Spectrum News has continued to expand its reach in recent years, launching its national streaming news network, Spectrum News+, as well as linear TV news networks in seven states; introducing a mobile news app with more than 3.7 million downloads; debuting three digital local news operations; and creating its local connected TV news app on Xumo Stream Box, Roku and Apple TV, underscoring its commitment to making Spectrum News available and accessible across diverse platforms.

*Spectrum set-top box data is sourced from all markets where Spectrum News has distribution and is based on a minimum threshold of five consecutive minutes of viewing on one station to count as a viewing HH.
