NEW YORK, NY — Spectrum News NY1 today announced the launch of “The Rush Hour,” a new two-hour weekday news program. Anchored by award-winning journalist Annika Pergament, the show focuses on diving deeper into the people and stories defining New Yorkers’ day, and is set to debut today at 4 p.m.

“’The Rush Hour’ will be an opportunity for viewers to catch up on the day that’s winding down and get ready for the one that’s coming up,” said Michael Kurtz, Senior Director of News at Spectrum News NY1. “Annika knows New York City from the street to the C-suite, and she will bring all of that insight to the show.”

Pergament is an Emmy Award-winning journalist with 30 years of experience covering New York’s biggest stories for NY1, including the terror attacks on September 11, the financial crisis of 2007-2008 and the COVID-19 pandemic. Her recent pieces include an investigation into New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services, an interview with Alex Bolen, CEO of Oscar de la Renta, and a profile of the director and actor Jennifer Esposito

"I've spent my career covering New York City and learned what matters most to our viewers: understanding what’s going on and who's making news in this city,” said Pergament. “We'll deliver the engaging stories and incisive interviews they need at the end of the day so they are ready to start the next. I'll see you at ‘Rush Hour.’"

Along with breaking news and weather, “The Rush Hour” will feature NY1’s signature coverage of politics, mass transit, the school system, Broadway and more. Pergament will also utilize her decades of reporting on New York to give the show an additional focus on the power players who move this city – from businesses to nonprofits to major institutions.

The show will air on NY1 and is available to Spectrum subscribers on channel 1 and via the Spectrum News App for mobile, Xumo Stream Box, Roku, and Apple TV streaming devices.
