KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Spectrum Networks today announced the launch of a rebranded Spectrum News, formerly Spectrum Sports Kansas City, bringing its award-winning format for news to the Kansas City Metro area. This expansion will feature high-quality news and content, local headlines every 30 minutes and local weather reporting, while continuing to deliver the network’s signature local sports coverage.

“Spectrum News’ expansion into Kansas City is part of our deep commitment to providing objective and trusted journalism, which is essential for a vibrant democracy,” said Alison Hellman, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Spectrum News. “As with our other Spectrum News networks, our mission in Kansas City is to inform the local communities we serve through relevant and balanced coverage of the news and events that impact them, creating a more empowered, engaged, and thriving community.”

Spectrum News integrates Spectrum News+, which curates nationally relevant local stories from across the country, local reporting from on-the-ground reporters and Spectrum Sports Kansas City’s key sports content, to provide a compelling news and sports channel. The rebranded network will continue to include coverage of the Kansas City Chiefs during the weekly “Red Zone” show and live post-game coverage. Local high school football and basketball games also will air each Friday throughout the respective seasons.

Among Spectrum customers, Spectrum News consistently outperforms the major cable and broadcast news networks, averaging more than 1.9 million viewing households each month across its linear and digital platforms spanning California, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.

Over the past few years, Spectrum News has launched its streaming news network, Spectrum News+, as well as linear TV news networks in seven states; introduced a mobile news app that has more than 3.2 million downloads; debuted three digital-only local news operations; and late last year, launched its local news app on Roku and Apple TV, underscoring its commitment to making Spectrum News available and accessible to audiences on whichever platform they prefer.
