Spectrum Internet® with Starting Speeds of 300 Mbps Now Available to More Than 400 Homes and Small Businesses

MONTEREY, Calif. – Spectrum, the #1 rural internet provider in the nation*, today announced the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to more than 400 homes and small businesses in the community of San Ardo in South Monterey County, and in parts of North Monterey County. Spectrum’s newly constructed fiber-optic network buildout in San Ardo and North Monterey County is partly offset by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) broadband grant, awarded by Monterey County.
Spectrum continues to expand broadband availability in Monterey County and expects to launch the same advanced services in San Lucas before the end of the year.
“Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Monterey County,” said Keri Askew-Bailey, Group Vice President of Government Affairs at Spectrum. “Our investment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services now available in previously unserved areas such as San Ardo. We are providing local residents and small businesses superior connectivity at highly competitive prices, backed by a team of skilled local technicians and 100% U.S.-based customer service.”
Broadband Speeds up to 1 Gbps, Money-Saving Mobile Options and 85,000 Free On Demand Choices
Spectrum Internet delivers speeds up to 1 Gbps and Advanced WiFi for residential and small business customers, featuring starting speeds of 300 Mbps, with no modem fees, data caps or contracts. Spectrum Business Internet offers customers 1 Gbps download speeds, with 300 Mbps and 600 Mbps options. The company has also begun a network evolution that will provide gigabit upstream speeds and multiple gigabit download speeds across its entire 41-state service area.
“Rural communities are often left behind, and I commend and support both public and private efforts that help shrink the digital divide,” said Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-18). “Expanding broadband access and providing robust connectivity investments were a priority for me in the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which was shepherded by House Democrats and the Biden Administration in the 117th Congress. I am glad families and small businesses in San Ardo will be able to learn, work, and connect easier thanks to the new Spectrum services now available because of the federal ARPA investment.”
Spectrum Internet exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report” issued in January 2023.
“The Board of Supervisors are making equitable and meaningful investments of ARPA dollars to expand broadband access in Monterey County,” said Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez. “Too many people here remain on the wrong side of the digital divide, and providers like Charter have extensive expertise and resources to get high-speed internet access to our communities in need. This unique partnership of public and private, with a mix of Federal and local leadership, is delivering real results for rural communities today.”
Along with multiple broadband options, Spectrum services now available also include Spectrum Mobile™ and Spectrum TV®. Spectrum Mobile is the nation’s fastest-growing mobile provider** and combines with Spectrum Internet and Advanced WiFi to provide seamless connectivity inside and outside the home. Spectrum Mobile provides customers access to nationwide 5G at great value, with Unlimited lines starting at $29.99 a month, as well as By the Gig options.
Spectrum TV offers more than 270 HD channels and access to 85,000 free On Demand movies and shows. Using the Spectrum TV App — the highest-rated pay TV streaming app in the U.S.*** — viewers can stream content across a growing number of platforms, including Xumo Stream Box, Xumo TV, Roku, Samsung Smart TV, Apple TV, Kindle Fire, Xbox, Windows, macOS and Chromecast.
