Student Artwork Brings Spectrum’s Story to Life Inside Northeast Region Headquarters

Visitors and employees walking through Spectrum’s Northeast Regional Headquarters in Rochester will see something new across the walls – large-scale murals and framed artwork created by local student artists that interpret connection, community and communication through their own perspective.

From technician vehicles heading toward neighborhoods to families sharing moments across devices, the artwork reflects how students see Spectrum’s role in the communities we serve. The murals translate network infrastructure into human experiences, turning familiar work into visual storytelling.

Daniela Manivong's artwork centered on Spectrum’s role in supporting a joyful community.

The project began with open walls in a new building and a simple question: how could this space reflect the communities employees support every day? Spectrum partnered with Rochester’s School of the Arts to invite students to respond to a creative brief focused on connectivity – what it means, how it shows up in daily life and how communication brings people together.

Students submitted original designs, several of which were commissioned as large-scale murals installed on prominent interior walls while others were professionally framed and displayed throughout the building.

“This project made me think differently about my art,” said Daniela Manivong. “I was designing for a real environment, not just for a grade.”

Harley Bermudez’s artwork highlights our connection in the Rochester community.

For employees, the artwork creates an immediate connection between the work inside the building and the community outside.

“This building represents the work our teams do every day across the Northeast, and these murals add something meaningful to that environment,” said Jason Crosby, Vice President of Field Operations for Spectrum’s Northeast Region. “Our employees see the impact of what they build and maintain, and these students captured that connection in a way that feels personal and real.”

Tri Minh Au earned the Commissioned Artist Award and $2,250 for “An Evening Connected” depicting a city rooftop house party.

Spectrum formally recognized student artists during an event at the regional headquarters, celebrating both the artwork and the collaboration that brought it to life.

The murals now serve as a reflection of the communities Spectrum connects, and a reminder that the next generation is already interpreting that impact in their own way.
