NEW YORK – Spectrum News NY1 today announced new weekday and weekend anchors along with plans to launch a live, three-hour news show on weekend mornings this fall as the network continues to bolster its award-winning local news programming and coverage of New York City.
“Our anchors are all trusted and respected journalists who are passionate about the city where they live and work,” said Helen Swenson, Vice President of Content and News, Spectrum News NY1. “Together with our talented team of journalists and producers at NY1, we will continue to deliver New Yorkers objective news and community-based storytelling that serves our viewers, whenever and wherever they need us. And with the addition of our live weekend news programming in the fall, we will deliver even more coverage of the city and its boroughs.”
As of today, Ruschell Boone has been named anchor for “Live at Noon,” NY1’s weekday news program dedicated to covering the hyperlocal stories and news across the five boroughs. A die-hard New Yorker with Jamaican roots, Boone grew up in the Bronx and Queens. She joined NY1 in 2002 and has covered major stories, including the 2016 bombing in Chelsea, and a live interview with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as she saw the results of her Democratic primary win live on NY1. Anthony Pascale has been named breaking news anchor, delivering the top news headlines and breaking news reports Monday through Friday, throughout the day. Pascale, who joined NY1 in 2007, has covered a variety of news across New York City, primarily the people, places, and stories happening on Staten Island.
In the fall, NY1 will expand its weekend news programming and launch live weekend mornings news from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The new show will be co-anchored by Shannan Ferry and Rocco Vertuccio. Also, in the fall, reporter Bree Driscoll will anchor dayside news on Saturdays and Sundays, while Dean Meminger will continue to anchor weekend evening news on Saturdays.
Ferry is an Emmy-nominated anchor and reporter who started at NY1 as an intern in 2012, serving in various roles including breaking news reporter, anchor and traffic reporter. Vertuccio, a New York City native, joined NY1 in 2009 as an anchor/reporter covering the five boroughs. Driscoll, who lives on Staten Island, has covered the five boroughs for the network since 2006. Born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx, Meminger has been with NY1 since 1997. He also serves as the network’s criminal justice reporter.
