Network Buildout is Part of Spectrum’s $9 Billion, Multiyear Rural Construction Initiative
PECULIAR, Mo. — Spectrum, the #1 rural internet provider in the nation*, today announced the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to more than 800 homes and small businesses in rural areas of Cass County, Missouri.
Spectrum’s multi-year Rural Construction Initiative is an investment of approximately $9 billion – partly offset by over $2 billion in government support funding – that will ultimately connect approximately 1.75 million new homes and small businesses across the country.
“Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Missouri and across America,” said Aaron Detwiler, Area Vice President for Spectrum’s Missouri Management Area. “Our investment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services now available in Cass County. We are providing residents and small businesses superior connectivity at highly competitive prices, backed by a team of skilled local technicians and 100% U.S.-based customer service.”
This network expansion project in Cass County was funded through private investment made by Spectrum and the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF).
“Ensuring all constituents in Missouri’s 4th Congressional District have access to reliable, fast, and affordable internet has been one of my top priorities,” said Rep. Mark Alford. “Charter’s recent RDOF expansion helps close the remaining access gaps and brings internet accessibility to more families and businesses in Cass County. Not only will I continue to support private efforts to increase internet access, but I will continue to diligently push for solutions at the Congressional level.”
At the state level, State Sen. Rick Brattin was equally pleased with opportunities the new activation will present.
“Like so many Missourians, I know how critical internet is for rural communities in the digital age, said State Senator Rick Brattin. “Spectrum understands this too— and with their help, Cass County residents are finally getting access to the digital tools they need.”
State Rep. Sherri Gallick echoed her colleague’s sentiment stating, “This investment by Spectrum will be transformative for Cass County residents and is the latest example of how they continue to be a partner to our state and to rural communities.”
Cass County Presiding Commissioner Bob Huston is optimistic about the economic future of the county.
“Thanks to Spectrum, more residents in Cass County are getting access to high-speed, reliable internet connections,” Huston said. “We are excited to bring new and long overdue economic opportunities to the community.”
