FLINT, Mich. — Spectrum, the #1 rural internet provider in the nation*, today announced the expansion of its fiber broadband network making Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services now available to more than 1,000 additional homes and businesses in previously unserved or underserved areas of Genesee County, Michigan, including in the townships of Argentine, Atlas, Davison, Flushing, Forest, Gaines, Montrose, Richfield and Thetford.
Spectrum’s multi-year rural construction initiative is driven by more than $7 billion in private investment from Spectrum and will ultimately add an additional 100,000+ miles of fiber network infrastructure and deliver symmetrical and multi-gigabit speeds to more than 1.7 million new locations across the country.
“Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Michigan and across America,” said Chris Spray, Area Vice President for Spectrum in Michigan. “Our investment is providing residents and small businesses superior connectivity at highly competitive prices, backed by a team of skilled local technicians and 100% U.S.-based customer service.”
The expansion was funded in part by a Realizing Opportunity with Broadband Infrastructure Networks (ROBIN) Broadband Grant, a joint effort between Spectrum and the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office (MIHI) to deliver high-speed internet to unserved communities. This project is supported, in part, by federal award number CPFFN0190 awarded to The State of Michigan by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
“From paying bills and searching for jobs to connecting with others in the community, reliable, fast internet and mobile service are absolute essentials in today’s day and age,” said State Senator John Cherry (D – Flint). “I’m thrilled to see thousands more residents across Genesee County gain access to these quality services thanks to Spectrum’s investment and ROBIN program.”

“I applaud Spectrum’s investment in Genesee County and its quick work to bring high-speed broadband to rural communities here,” said State Representative Brian BeGole (R – Antrim). “Partnerships with companies like Spectrum help ensure our rural areas have the same resources as our urban neighbors.”
Spectrum Internet delivers speeds up to 1 Gbps and Advanced WiFi for residential and business customers, featuring starting speeds of 500 Mbps, with no modem fees, data caps or contracts. The company has also begun a network evolution project that will provide gigabit upstream speeds and multiple gigabit download speeds across its entire 41-state service area.
Spectrum Internet exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report.”
