TAMPA, Fla. — Spectrum is marking a major milestone in Citrus County, Florida, as its network expansion nears completion. Spectrum Internet, with speeds up to 1 Gig, Mobile, TV and Voice services are now available to more than 8,000 homes and small businesses.

The expansion in Citrus County is part of Spectrum’s multi-year rural construction initiative. Driven by more than $7 billion in private investment, Spectrum will add more than 100,000 miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure and deliver symmetrical and multi-gigabit speed Internet access to more than 1.7 million new locations across the country.

“Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Florida and across America,” said John Dosher, Area Vice President of Field Operations, Spectrum. “Our investment is providing local residents and small businesses superior connectivity at highly competitive prices, backed by a team of skilled local technicians and 100% U.S.-based customer service.”

Highland Blvd., Inverness, Spectrum will present a $15,000 Beyond the Build Digital Education grant to United Way of Citrus County to empower digital access and education for students and families. The event will take place during the Citrus High School’s football game at half-time.

“Connecting our community to broadband is only the beginning,” said Citrus County Commission Chairwoman Diana Finegan. “Residents also need the digital skills, resources, and support to make the most of that connection. This kind of partnership will make a lasting difference for Citrus County.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Spectrum for this generous $15,000 investment in our community”, said says George Schmalstig, United Way of Citrus County President & CEO. “This computer lab will give our financial literacy participants access to the technology and hands-on tools they need to build stronger financial skills and create greater opportunities for themselves and their families,”
