Spectrum Connectivity Transforms Maine’s Fryeburg Fair

Maine’s Fryeburg Fair – a New England tradition dating to 1851 – is stepping into the future with a Spectrum Fiber Broadband Network upgrade. The fairground’s network infrastructure was improved for the 2025 Fryeburg Fair to deliver a better, more memorable experience for the more than 225,000 annual visitors – patrons, vendors and staff alike.

Spectrum products and services are used across the site, starting with electronic ticket sales. And wireless access offers vendors – from food stands to craft booths – a quick, secure way to process credit card transactions.

The upgraded infrastructure also supports Fryeburg Fair’s software systems and the RingCentral phones staff members use to stay in touch across the site’s more than 185 acres and 100 buildings. Public safety and security have also improved with the network supporting the fair’s security cameras and PA system. And Spectrum’s solution provides scalable bandwidth, allowing the fair to adjust its capacity as crowds grow – an approach that effectively balances costs and the need to deliver a consistent user experience.

"Moving to Spectrum services has transformed the way we run the fair," said Chris Sanborn, Fryeburg Fair’s IT director. "We went from patchwork fiber and unmanaged switches to a reliable, centrally managed system. Spectrum’s flexibility and support have made our operations smoother, our vendors happier and my job much easier."

Spectrum crews delivered the fast, reliable and centralized connectivity experience by adding more than 40 runs of fiber to the fairgrounds.

"The transformation at Fryeburg Fair shows connectivity matters everywhere,” said Scott Stinson, Spectrum’s Regional Vice President of Field Operations in the Northeast. “With Spectrum services supporting everything from security to vendor payments, we’ve helped the fair embrace the future without losing sight of its rich history.”
