Spectrum Joins California Community to Welcome Family Home After Devastating Wildfire
Share Article:
Fifteen months after the Eaton Fire destroyed their Altadena, California, house, the Wood family returns home.
Spectrum employees joined San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity and hundreds of community members to celebrate construction wrapping up and present the family with a ceremonial key. The project, the first of many rebuilds for Habitat, stemmed from community efforts to bring families and businesses back to Altadena.
Spectrum’s revitalization efforts started immediately after the fire, as technicians began work to restore critical Internet and Voice service for the residents. As efforts shifted from response to rebuilding, many of those same employees returned as volunteers to help build the Wood family a new home.
Completed Home Supported by Spectrum’s Reliable Connectivity
Construction brought the Wood family a new foundation, as well as fast, reliable connectivity from the Spectrum Fiber Broadband Network. Today, they’re settling back into their community and reestablishing routines with a complimentary year of Spectrum’s 1 Gig Internet and Invincible WiFi service, so they can start their next chapter and stay connected to loved ones.
“There is something very rewarding about supporting a family in every stage of their recovery,” said Wally Bakare, Regional Vice President, West. “Our teams were there immediately after the fires were extinguished. To be back here now as the Wood family returns home and to be able to provide them with our services shows what it means to serve the communities where we live and work.”
For the Wood family and the Altadena community, it’s a sign of progress – and possibility. What started as an emergency response ended with a front door opening and a family coming home.
