Employees rolled up their sleeves and joined San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity as the organization began its efforts for families affected by the Eaton Fire in Altadena.

When wildfires swept through Los Angeles earlier this year, families across the region lost their homes, routines and peace of mind. When recovery efforts began, Spectrum volunteers were there, helping individuals at local shelters stay connected to loved ones and access critical information.

That early community support has grown into participation in long-term rebuilding efforts. Recently, employees joined San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity as it helps the Wood family rebuild the home they lost in the Eaton Fire. Many of the Company’s volunteers who secured supports and prepared the site for the next phase of construction were the same Field Operations employees who restored Spectrum’s service across the community after the fire.

Completed Home Will Include Spectrum’s Reliable Connectivity

Spectrum will provide the Woods with a free year of 1 gig Internet service and Advanced WiFi, along with complimentary installation. The addition of reliable connectivity will help the family fully settle into its new home while the community continues to rebuild around them.

“There is something powerful about supporting a family in every stage of recovery. Our technicians were on the ground when the fires shut everything down. To be back here now helping a family rebuild their home shows what it means to serve the communities where we live and work.”

Wally Bakare, Regional Vice President, West

Rising walls in a neighborhood once surrounded by smoke is a sign of how far the community has come. It’s a sign that support isn’t extinguished with the flames. It continues in every act of service, every return visit and every step that brings families closer to home.

"This hit home for me because I grew up in the Altadena and Pasadena area," said Rick Rosano, Construction Coordinator III. "It was an honor to play a small part in bringing a sense of normalcy to the Wood family."
