Spectrum News Launches 'More On That,' a YouTube Series Bringing In-Depth Storytelling to California

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Spectrum News today announced the launch of "More On That," a new digital-first series that provides an authentic, on-the-ground perspective of the issues that matter to California communities. Beginning today, new long-form stories will post regularly on the Spectrum News California YouTube channel. A new weekly show also launches this Thursday at 8 p.m. on Spectrum News networks across the state, offering a recap of the week’s coverage. 

“California's biggest stories rarely have simple explanations, and that is exactly the gap 'More On That' is designed to fill,” said Seth Katz, Senior Director of Production, Spectrum Networks. "Being digital-first allows us to reach more viewers while giving a glimpse of the type of reporting that can be found on Spectrum News every day, providing real context on the issues affecting the lives of Californians.”     

"More On That" moves beyond the traditional linear TV news format and time constraints, putting reporters in the driver's seat to dig past the headlines. Each story will dig into topics such as housing, health care, big tech, agriculture, and the impacts of climate change – leaning into longer-form storytelling and visual journalism to give a complete look at how these issues are really affecting California’s diverse and unique communities.  

The series connects the dots between what's making news and what it means for the people living it, from seniors facing oppressive desert heat on razor-thin budgets to inspectors hunting down a pest that could spell ruin for all of Wine Country. 

Led by Katz, the team features experienced multimedia journalists reporting from key markets across the state, including Brent Cannon in Fresno, Mary Strong in Palm Springs, Muna Sadek in Sacramento, and Raquel Maria Dillon and Jack Molmud in San Francisco, with additional journalists to be based in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Luis Obispo. Stories from veteran Emmy Award-winning journalist and producer Lisa Ling will also be featured. Each brings deep local journalism experience and a strong understanding of the communities they cover, giving "More On That" an authentic, on-the-ground perspective in every market it touches.
