Charter Southeast Division Operations Announces Two Key Appointments

ATLANTA - Two key appointments in the Southeast Operating Division of Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) were announced today by Chuck McElroy, the Division's Senior Vice President of Operations.

Kirk Darfler was named Vice President and General Manager of Charter's South Carolina key market area. In that capacity, Mr. Darfler will have P&L responsibility for Charter's South Carolina and Western North Carolina operations. He will be responsible for all aspects of the company's daily operations for this key market area, including customer service, field operations, government relations, budget, revenue, and staffing.

Anthony Bowling was appointed Vice President of Engineering/Technical Operations, with responsibilities that include: preparing and executing the capital and operations budget, administering rebuild and new construction projects, providing guidance and support for field technical operations resources, and developing short and long term forecasts for effective use of cable plant and system performance.

Both Messrs. Darfler and Bowling will report to Mr. McElroy.

Mr. Darfler spent 14 years with the former AT&T Broadband, most recently as Vice President of Operations for the Washington state market. He previously served as Vice President of Operations for Advanced Broadband Services and as Vice President of Corporate Data Services.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he majored in Interpersonal Communications and Business Management.

Mr. Bowling has some 23 years of engineering experience, most recently with Comcast, where he served as Vice President of Engineering and Construction for the Atlanta market. While with AT&T Broadband, he held Vice President slots in Broadband Engineering, Network Implementation and Hub Engineering.

Mr. Bowling received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and a MBA in Management from the University of St. Thomas.
