Spectrum Networks Names Former NBC News Executive Producer Sam Singal Vice President of Content and Editorial

NEW YORK – Spectrum Networks today announced veteran TV and digital news producer and former NBC News Executive Producer Sam Singal has been named Vice President, Content and Editorial. In this newly created role, Singal will oversee the content creation, editorial development, and launch of a new, innovative mobile news app for Spectrum subscribers. The news app will launch in the second quarter of 2020.

Spectrum News’ robust lineup of hyperlocal news, weather, politics and original content is available on news networks and digital platforms in Texas, Kentucky, Florida, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Southern California.

Singal joins Spectrum Networks from Verizon Media where he managed editorial, business and product initiatives for multiple brands, including Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance and HuffPost. As an award-winning producer, Singal has more than 20 years of senior leadership experience at NBC in broadcast and digital news. Among his various positions at NBC, he served three years as Executive Producer (2015-2018) of “NBC Nightly News” with Lester Holt where he managed all aspects of the nation’s number one evening news broadcast.
Prior to his promotion to Executive Producer, Singal served three years as Senior Broadcast Producer of “Nightly News” (2012-2015). His leadership experience includes two years as Senior Producer, Digital and TV, leading digital initiatives, editorial content and execution of weekday and weekend news broadcasts from 2008-2010, and six years (2002-2008) as Senior Digital Producer and Associate Producer of the evening newscast. He began his career at ABC News before joining NBC as an Associate Producer of “Dateline” in 1998.
Singal holds a M.S. from New York University and a B.A. from Tufts University. He serves on the board of the Edward R. Murrow Center for a Digital World at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
