Spectrum will salute Veterans Day with an On Demand collection of war-themed movies for rent, including Bradley Cooper in the Iraq War biographical drama “American Sniper,” David Oyelowo as a pilot in the famed Tuskegee Airmen in “Red Tails,” Harry Styles as an English soldier attempting to evacuate France in “Dunkirk,” and director Peter Jackson’s acclaimed First World War documentary, “They Shall Not Grow Old.”
Movies will be available in the On Demand portal under the category For the Troops through November 13. The selection also includes “12 Strong,” starring Chris Hemsworth as a U.S. soldier fighting in Afghanistan after September 11; “Megan Leavey,” featuring Kate Mara as a Marine K9 handler serving in Iraq; “Saving Private Ryan,” with Tom Hanks and the late Tom Sizemore as an Army captain and his squad sergeant on a mission to rescue a paratrooper played by Matt Damon; and “Rescue Dawn,” about a pilot’s struggle for survival after being shot down over Laos, starring Christian Bale. Additionally, For the Troops includes “Flags of Our Fathers,” about the Marines who raised the flag on Iwo Jima during World War II; and “Thank You For Your Service,” the 2017 drama with Miles Teller and Haley Bennett about Iraq war veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder.
