Spectrum 2017 Digital Education Grant Recipients Announced

Today, 17 deserving nonprofit organizations were awarded a Spectrum Digital Education Grant, Charter Communications announced.

The grants total approximately $400,000, and were awarded as part of our new philanthropic initiative designed to support nonprofits that educate community members on the benefits of broadband.

The grants are part of a $1 million commitment to provide digital education in Charter communities through financial grants. Additionally, Charter is committed to PSAs, workshops and webinars for local nonprofit organizations.

Helping Nonprofits Have a Lasting Impact in the Digital Age

Charter received more than 200 eligible grant applications between June 30 and Aug. 11, then carefully reviewed the materials to determine the 17 recipient organizations.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the interest generated and the quality of the submissions received for the Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program,” said Rahman Khan, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for Charter. “After careful review, we are confident that the selected organizations will help further our mission to provide communities in need with the necessary tools to grow and prosper in the digital age.”

Spectrum is Committed to Digital Education

Internet usage has become an important part of everyday life. However, according to the Pew Research Center, more than 1/4 of Americans do not have broadband at home. That number increases when factors like age, ethnicity and income are taken into account.

The grant program seeks to support Spectrum’s commitment to helping organizations that educate community members on the benefits of broadband and how to use the internet to make their lives better.
