New Choice for Local Phone Service With Unlimited Local and Long Distance Calling

RENO, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 2006--Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) today announced that Reno area residents will be the first in Nevada to experience Charter Telephone service, providing customers an entirely new choice for telephone service.

Charter's Telephone service includes unlimited local and long distance calling, caller identification, voicemail, three-way calling, call forwarding, custom ring, speed dial and other popular calling features. Charter Telephone also provides customers 911 emergency service and directory listings.

"There's a new and better telephone company in town, and it's called Charter," said Manny Martinez, Charter's Vice President and General Manager for Nevada.

It is simple to switch to Charter Telephone, which uses the same fiber optic and coaxial cable lines directly to the home that also provide digital service and high-speed Internet service. "Charter Telephone service is deployed over existing home phone wiring and jacks," said Mr. Martinez. "New customers can keep their current phone number with no service disruption, there is no new equipment for them to buy, and installation is free."

It is not necessary to purchase other Charter services to be a telephone customer. However, special savings are available to customers who subscribe to additional Charter services. Customers who have Charter Digital and High-Speed Internet can add Charter telephone for $34.99 per month.

Charter Telephone is provided over its managed digital fiber network for transporting calls, rather than the Internet. "With Charter Telephone service, customers will receive the high quality and reliable service they are used to, but with more convenience, value and savings," said Mr. Martinez.
