Hawai'i Employees Find Community, Opportunity With Spectrum

On the “Big Island” of Hawai’i, locals Caragh, Chelsea and Justine help maintain Spectrum’s network, making sure customers have access to the connectivity services they rely on. As maintenance technicians, they spend their days maintaining network infrastructure, working between hub sites and customer connection points, and monitoring signal strength.

Inspired by the concept of ‘Ohana, a Hawaiian term meaning “family,” the trio have built strong bonds with one another, their co-workers and the customers they serve. And the leadership skills, attention to detail and work ethic they developed as a coffee and avocado farmer, a skilled fisherwoman, and a star athlete help them do excellent work every day.

Success like that is why Spectrum has a long history of investing in its employees and providing the resources and opportunities they need to grow. Over the past five years, these efforts, including compensation that starts at $20 an hour or more, self-guided career progression opportunities, and an educational benefit that offers tuition-free undergraduate degrees and professional certifications, have helped employees build lasting careers, sharpening their skills and developing expertise that leaves a lasting impression on customers in Hawai'i and on the mainland.
