Charter to Launch EPIX

Charter and EPIX reach agreement for television, on demand and online content to launch in May 2010
 

St. Louis, MO and New York, NY, February 4, 2010 – Charter Communications, Inc. today announced that it will launch EPIX™, a multiplatform premium entertainment channel, video-on-demand and online service to customers during May.   EPIX is the premium entertainment joint venture formed by Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA and VIA.B), its Paramount Pictures unit, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM) and Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF).

EPIX offers the latest Hollywood movies, 15,000 films from three of the top motion picture libraries, cutting-edge original programming and special comedy and concert events to Charter customers around the nation.  Charter and EPIX recently reached an agreement, terms of which were not disclosed.

“Video consumption is evolving, and our customers want access to the best movies and entertainment, when they want it and on multiple platforms,” said Rich DiGeronimo, Charter’s Vice President of Product Management.  “We strive to continuously add more entertainment options and enhance the overall experience for our customers, and EPIX offers new content with convenience and control for our customers through a linear, on-demand and online total viewing experience.”

Through its distribution partnerships, EPIX will be available for consumers in nearly 16 million homes by May 2010.

EPIX, a joint venture between Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA and VIA.B), its Paramount Pictures unit, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.
