St. Louis – Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) has placed its 100th link order for Aurora Networks' “Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing” Ethernet Access for use by Charter Business Services, the company's commercial services division. The Aurora CWDM architecture enables Charter Business to deploy high-speed data services to its customers.
Wayne Davis, Charter's Chief Technical Officer, said Aurora Networks' CWDM Ethernet Access was initially chosen because it offered significant capital and operating cost reductions compared to other designs and technologies.
Added Steve Santamaria, Vice President for Charter Business, “We began deploying the Aurora solution earlier this year, primarily to schools in our Western Division. And we've been extremely pleased with the results.
“Aurora's CWDM Ethernet Access gives us tremendous flexibility with connectivity ranging from 100-megabit per-second all the way to one gigabit-per-second architecture. In fact, Charter was the first cable company to successfully deploy Aurora Networks' one gigabit-per-second architecture.”
"Aurora Networks is very pleased that Charter selected our CWDM Ethernet Access solution to address their commercial services opportunities" said Guy Sucharczuk, President and CEO of Aurora Networks. "We believe the delivery of high speed data to Small and Medium Businesses is an exciting market opportunity for Charter with great growth potential and one that we are committed to supporting."
