Charter Names Shelbie Berry Vice President of Procurement and Supply Chain Management

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 2003--The appointment of Shelbie Berry to Vice President of Procurement and Supply Chain Management for Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CHTR) was announced today by Wayne Davis, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technical Operations. In this capacity, Ms. Berry will have overall responsibility for sourcing, purchasing and the management of materials and services.

In making the announcement, Mr. Davis said, "Shelbie has the expertise to define Charter's organization and purchasing functions to leverage our buying power, as well as the ability to implement electronic procurement and supply chain processes that will result in cost benefits for Charter and associated vendors. With her proven leadership in all areas of supply chain management, I'm confident Shelbie will ensure our teams in the field have the tools necessary to best serve our customers.

Ms. Berry has more than 25 years of experience in materials and purchasing. Most recently, she has been a consultant after serving for more than six years as Vice President Materials and Purchasing for Jones Intercable. While at Jones, she introduced and implemented one of the first purchasing and material/inventory on-line tracking processes in the industry for which she received the company's "Imagination Quality" award. Prior to joining Jones, Ms. Berry worked in purchasing and supply chain at Body Shop (cosmetics), AKZO (pharmaceuticals) and CGG (oil and gas exploration).

Ms. Berry has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.
