Charter Communications Promotes Stephen Silva to Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer

ST. LOUIS, Oct 25, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CHTR) today announced the promotion of Stephen E. Silva to the newly created position of Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, with continued responsibility for research and development of advanced technologies and new products and services.

Mr. Vogel said Mr. Silva has also signed a long-term employment agreement that runs until the end of 2005.

Mr. Silva joined Charter in April 1995 and held numerous management positions in the company before being promoted to Senior

Vice President of Corporate Development & Technology in 1999. A 20-year veteran of the cable television industry, Mr. Silva, prior to joining Charter, served in many roles for Cable Data, including a key responsibility to implement the first interactive service test in the cable industry.
