STAMFORD, Conn. and NEW YORK, April 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR) and AMC Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCX) announced today a groundbreaking partnership that will leverage the growing capacity of AMC Studios to develop and co-produce distinct, high-quality original programming, with exclusive co-branded content for Charter's Spectrum platform. The partnership will give Spectrum customers access to content created specifically for them, further differentiating Charter's platform and services.

AMC Studios produces some of the most popular and acclaimed shows on television, including "The Walking Dead," "Fear the Walking Dead," "The Son," "Into the Badlands,"  "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency," and the forthcoming "The Terror." The studio operation has grown from one production – "The Walking Dead" – in 2010 to 10 scripted originals in 2016, as AMC Networks has successfully executed a strategy to produce and own more of the shows that appear on its linear television networks. "This is an exciting deal that furthers Charter's goal of providing its customers with world class products and services," said Tom Montemagno, EVP of Programming Acquisition for Charter Communications. "AMC Networks is one of the most respected producers of high-quality original programming in the business and we are proud to partner with them to identify, develop and produce original content that will further differentiate our customer experience and the value we provide in a competitive marketplace." "Charter believes that quality customer care is a cornerstone of their success, and by delivering unique, high-value products and services they continue to differentiate the Spectrum customer experience. This new content partnership is a powerful example of that dynamic at work," said Ed Carroll, AMC Networks COO. "As AMC Studios becomes an increasingly important part of our business, this first-of-its-kind partnership represents a new horizon for us." The companies expect the first content co-produced and co-funded through this partnership to premiere on Charter Spectrum in 2018. Under the agreement between the two companies, Charter will have an exclusive initial window in the U.S. to the co-produced content for use on its own platform, while AMC Studios will retain subsequent rights, including the right to distribute the content internationally.
