Buildout to Reach More than 4,500 Homes and Small Businesses

CARROLLTON, Ga. — Spectrum today announced construction is underway on a fiber-optic network expansion project that will bring gigabit broadband and other Spectrum services to more  than 4,500 homes and small businesses in Carroll County.

The buildout is part of Spectrum’s approximately $5 billion investment in unserved rural areas, which includes $1.2 billion won in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) auction. The company’s RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to approximately 1 million customer locations as estimated by the FCC across 24 states in the coming years.

Spectrum representatives along with Georgia Senate Majority Leader Mike Dugan and Carroll County Chairman Michelle Morgan celebrated the expansion project and the launch of Spectrum Internet®, Mobile, TV and Voice services already available to some residents and small business owners in the buildout area.

“The pandemic rightfully expedited broadband expansion in rural areas to residents that do not currently have access in their homes,” said Sen. Dugan. “I’m thrilled that Carroll County is now part of this excitement as Spectrum expands its high-speed internet service to unserved parts of the County.”
