The Weather Channel and Charter Communications Partner on National Philanthropic Initiative
Companies will combat the crisis of unsafe and unhealthy housing in the United States through Connect with Weather and Charter our Community
ATLANTA, GA and STAMFORD, CT – The Weather Channel and Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) announced today that they have partnered in support of Charter our Community, Charter’s national philanthropic initiative. Charter our Community provides education, resources and financial support to improve 25,000 unsafe and unhealthy homes in the Charter footprint by 2020.
Connect with Weather, The Weather Channel’s safety and preparedness program, will be co-branded with Charter our Community and content from each program will be available on the programs’ respective websites, CharterOurCommunity.com and ConnectWithWeather.com. This content will include severe weather preparatory information, homeowner tips and resources, an emergency plan development tool and other interactive features that will help people maintain safe and healthy homes.
Other aspects of the programs will include The Weather Channel spotlighting the stories behind Charter our Community home rebuilding events, which are produced in conjunction with Rebuilding Together, a leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing and a Charter our Community partner. The companies will also collaborate on the distribution of needed home health and safety resources.
“The Weather Channel recognizes the critical role that educational and renovation efforts play in the well-being of our communities. We welcome this opportunity to share a joint mission with Charter Communications to provide support to weather-impacted families,” said Dave Shull, CEO of The Weather Channel Television. “From our experience covering storm-ravaged communities, we know that devastated areas increasingly need resources for a safe recovery, and we look forward to working with Charter and contributing to the revival of their affected markets.”
“Charter our Community has been a great success in its first full year. We continue to look for ways in which we can improve the health and safety of homes in the communities in which we live and work,” said Alex Dudley, Senior Vice President of Communications of Charter. “Working with The Weather Channel allows us to share their vast array of educational resources and safety expertise with homeowners who are impacted by weather related incidents.”
