New York, NY – Spectrum Networks today announced it will increase news and reporting from its Washington, D.C. bureau in an effort to deliver more in-depth, hyperlocal coverage of political news to Spectrum News viewers in local markets. Under the leadership of Spectrum Networks Bureau Chief Colleen Wordock, the expanded Washington, D.C. bureau will increase from a team of four to fourteen journalists over the next few months.
The newly expanded team will provide Spectrum viewers in North Carolina, New York, Texas, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, Wisconsin and California with enhanced coverage of elected officials and policy leaders based in Washington, D.C. From the nation’s capital, congressional correspondents will report on the work of elected officials regarding policies that affect their local constituents. In addition, D.C. correspondents will collaborate with the local political units of the networks in each market to provide unbiased and in-depth coverage of the pressing issues that impact Spectrum viewers and their local communities.
“It’s an exciting time to be part of Spectrum News’ D.C. bureau expansion, so much of what is happening in the capital directly affects local viewers,” said Wordock. “We look forward to finding better ways to cultivate more relevant and thoughtful conversations and deliver news as it continually evolves.”
Wordock, a news veteran with extensive editorial and video production experience, has covered Washington, D.C. for more than two decades. Prior to joining Spectrum Networks, she most recently was with Sinclair Broadcast Group where she managed their Washington bureau expansion and helped launch Circa.com, the company’s digital venture for millennials. Her previous experiences include time at Bloomberg Television where she led Washington, D.C. news coverage.
