Our New Goal: Improve 50,000 Homes by 2020

It’s been a busy spring for our Spectrum Housing Assist initiative. We have been working hard toward improving 50,000 homes by 2020, doubling our original goal to improve 25,000 homes in that same time span.

This expansion of our signature philanthropic initiative seeks to ensure more Americans live in safe and healthy homes.

“The overwhelming success of Spectrum Housing Assist has given us the confidence to redouble our efforts to improve the communities where our employees live and work,” said Kirsten Young, Director, Corporate Social Responsibility. “Our new commitment will result in more families being helped, more opportunities for employees to give back, and a closer connection between those communities and Charter.”

A Rewarding Year Ahead

Our legions of employee volunteers help make all the difference.

Over the course of 2018, we have plans to host more than 100 events in 29 states and improve more than 12,000 homes along with our national nonprofit partner Rebuilding Together.

We will return to neighborhoods where we have helped rebuild in the past, in an effort to make a deeper impact in the communities we serve as a cable, internet and voice provider.

Since January, we’ve already improved more than 30 homes through rebuilds, installed more than 1,000 smoke alarms and distributed more than 1,500 Safe & Healthy Home Kits.

Introducing “Community Day” in Select Cities

We are well underway toward our new goal to improve 50,000 homes by 2020.

This year, we have added a “Community Day” component to multi-home rebuild events in St. Louis, Los Angeles and Charlotte, North Carolina to foster relationships with nonprofits and residents who live and work in the communities we serve. We held our first in St. Louis on May 19.

These special fairs will provide local nonprofits with an opportunity to engage with residents to share their resources and services. Spectrum will also distribute Safe & Healthy Home kits, and speak with attendees about job opportunities.
