Hundreds of Top Titles from Leading Studios and Major Independents Available Soon for Download

St. Louis and Santa Monica –May 24, 2004– – Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) and Movielink today announced an agreement to launch a customized version of Movielink's broadband movie rental service that will offer an enhanced movie downloading experience for Charter High-Speed™ Internet Service customers. The new, co-branded service will offer Charter customers the latest titles from major studios and independent film companies.

“Our relationship with Movielink builds upon our current, content-rich broadband offering and adds to the entertainment value we're currently providing our Charter High-Speed Internet Service customers,” said Barb Hedges, Charter Vice President of Broadband Marketing.

“The power of broadband has boldly opened new doors for content distribution and dramatically reshaped the consumer entertainment experience as we know it,” said Jim Ramo, Chief Executive Officer of Movielink. “Creating a co-branded service with Charter gives both companies the ability to deliver a compelling broadband entertainment experience to our customers. As one of the nation's largest broadband companies, Charter understands that high quality content services, such as Movielink, are an essential component for broadband services to achieve deeper market penetration and lasting loyalty from customers.”

Hedges said the Movielink agreement will enable Charter to provide its high speed data customers with an experience comparable to the highly-popular Charter OnDemand™ service currently available to digital cable customers.

“Consumers love the convenience of video on demand,” Hedges said. “They can watch what they want, when they want, without making a trip to the video store. For high speed data customers with laptops, Charter's Movielink service offers the added convenience of where they want – they can download movies on their laptops to take with them when they're traveling.”

The prices for Movielink movies range from $1.99 to $4.99, depending on title, for a 24-hour viewing period. They can be stored on a customer's hard drive for up to 30 days.

Charter customers will have access to Movielink's full library of more than 800 titles. Among current titles to be offered through the Charter-Movielink service are: School of Rock, Matrix Revolutions, Something's Gotta Give, Lost in Translation and Out of Time.
