Charter Offers ResearchChannel Programming on VOD

St. Louis, Missouri — All of Charter Communications Video on Demand (VOD enabled Digital customers now have access to ResearchChannel programming.

ResearchChannel, a nonprofit media and technology organization, was founded in 1996 by leading research and academic institutions so they could share the work of their researchers with the public while collectively participating in advanced distribution and interactive technology experiments.

“Special interest programming like ResearchChannel is what is so great about VOD,” said Jeff Jay, Charter's Vice President of Product Development. “Leading-edge research is now available to Charter customers any time by way of Video on Demand. “Remarkable speakers, researchers and professors revolutionary thoughts and discoveries can be accessed any time,” said Mr. Jay. More than 50 institutions including Johns Hopkins University, the University of Washington and the Library of Congress participate and have programs featured.

Charter has launched ResearchChannel to digital customers in all of its VOD enabled service areas throughout the country. Programs are shared in their original form, unmediated and without interruption.

“We are pleased to offer our programs as part of Charter's VOD programming line-up. This furthers our mission of making research available to everyone. Our educational programs come from leading research institutions and let viewers learn about research developments first-hand from the researchers themselves,” said Amy Philipson, executive director, ResearchChannel.

Some of the programs available from ResearchChannel OnDemand include The University of Pennsylvania's “Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture in Social Justice,” featuring the Rev. Jesse Jackson; “Understanding Fat: Syndrome X and Beyond,” from Howard Hughes Medical Institute, “A Conversation with Walter Cronkite,” produced by the University of Southern California.
