Austin and San Antonio, Texas – Spectrum Networks today announced it will present "Faith and Firepower," an exclusive documentary that will take an in-depth look at how gun violence has impacted and shaped faith-based communities in Texas. "Faith and Firepower" will air on Spectrum News Austin and Spectrum News San Antonio on March 1 at 8 pm, followed by a live half-hour town hall from Sutherland Springs.
Hosted by Spectrum News Reporter John Salazar, "Faith and Firepower" will feature stories of local communities affected by gun-related violence, including interviews with survivors of the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs shooting, the deadliest church shooting in U.S. history. The 30-minute special will also examine the stories of residents who have decided to take a more active approach to securing their church congregations while others prefer that guns stay outside of places of worship.
The live town hall will bring lawmakers, victims, advocates, and community and religious leaders together in a 30-minute discussion that will provide a platform for the opposing views to talk about the problem and potential solutions to gun violence.
Town hall guests will include: Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church Pastor Frank Pomeroy; Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar; Texas State Representative John Kuempel; and Texas State Senator Donna Campbell.
"Faith and Firepower" will air on channel 8 in Austin and channel 14 in San Antonio. Spectrum News Austin and Spectrum News San Antonio are exclusive channels of Spectrum.
