Spectrum is a Proud Partner of the American Red Cross

Spectrum is a proud partner of the American Red Cross, and its home fire preparedness campaign, Sound the Alarm. October marks National Fire Preparedness Month, and we salute the hundreds of our employee volunteers who have canvassed neighborhoods across the country this year to install smoke alarms and offer fire safety education.
To date, we have installed more than 500 smoke alarms and distributed fire safety education materials to homeowners from Oahu, Hawaii to Columbia, South Carolina.
“Getting out into the same neighborhoods that our field installation technicians visit and work in every day, and partnering with another trusted brand like the American Red Cross is so rewarding,” said Bill Morand, Regional Communications Director in Michigan, and employee volunteer.
Our History with the American Red Cross
Spectrum has worked with the Red Cross since 2015, and has been a Ready 365 level partner since 2017. The nonprofit has recently postponed their national Sound the Alarm campaign in order to manage relief efforts for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, though regional home fire campaign work continues year-round.
Later this fall, Spectrum has smoke alarm installation events planned in Texas and New York.
“We are grateful for the continued support of Spectrum,” said Mario Bruno, CEO, American Red Cross, Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “Spectrum continues to give back to communities across the country and to the American Red Cross. Their partnership and commitment to the Red Cross has been exceptional and we look forward to continuing to work together to strengthen the communities we serve.”
Spectrum Housing Assist Honored
The American Red Cross of Connecticut recently awarded Charter Communications with the 2017 Workplace Hero Award at their annual Heroes Luncheon for our national philanthropic initiative: Spectrum Housing Assist.
Spectrum Housing Assist is our signature philanthropic program, and has a goal of improving 25,000 homes by 2020.
Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility Rahman Khan accepted the award on the company’s behalf in Hartford, Connecticut.
“Our executives, our leaders, our employees – we’re all motivated to get out there and make a difference,” said Khan. “We just want to be a company that does the right thing … This is something we believe in, something we value.”
