Rebuilding Homes and Communities
Share Article:
Rebuilding Together was founded in 1973 in Midland, Texas when a small group of good people realized a growing need in their community. Their neighbors’ homes had fallen into disrepair and the homeowners could not afford to fix them. Volunteers offered their time and skills to rehabilitate these homes.
This simple act of neighbors helping neighbors inspired others, spreading slowly at first, and then across the country. A national office opened in 1988. Today, Rebuilding Together consists of more than 175 affiliates rebuilding homes and communities throughout the United States.
