LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2001--ICTV, supplier of advanced broadband systems with a headend-based solution for interactive TV, and Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CHTR), today announced the launch of ICTV's broadband TV delivery platform in a system with 72,000 homes passed in Kalamazoo.

The launch, scheduled for the fall of 2001, will include email and full Internet access via the television. The combined service suite will eventually be available to digital homes throughout the Kalamazoo system.

"At Charter, we have high expectations for broadband interactive services," said Stephen E. Silva, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development & Technology for Charter Communications. "ICTV has come a long way in the past year and with this launch, we plan to give its solution -- and the consumer experience it enables -- a real opportunity to succeed. We believe in the iTV business model and are striving to bring this reality to our customers."

Robert B. Clasen, ICTV's Chairman and CEO, believes the Kalamazoo launch provides an excellent opportunity for ICTV to show the industry what broadband TV can do by offering a variety of applications from narrowband services like email to full broadband such as Internet access. "We're truly excited about this launch. Working with a company like Charter that is focused on delivering the best user experience to its subscribers affords us the opportunity to demonstrate not only the functional capabilities of our system, but also the impact of the consumer services that we enable. Operators can choose any iTV applications they want and we believe web-based interactivity is totally new and very exciting for the consumer. It's the next HBO. We look forward to proving that with Charter."
