Her Prayers Answered
Share Article:
“I have prayed for you… for so long.”
Emotional words from an Iowa woman named Cheryl. She’s one of the more than 150,000 American homeowners Rebuilding Together has helped over the last 25 years; her prayers answered.
Cheryl purchased her home, which was built in 1890. It had actually previously been in her family. Cheryl had intended to fix the house up, with the help of her son Charles.
But Cheryl then suffered an unthinkable tragedy: Her son died suddenly. She then ran into financial problems and her home fell into a state of disrepair. If Cheryl didn’t get help to rebuild her home, she was going to end up homeless.
A New Beginning
Rebuilding Together – along with a team of volunteers: carpenters, floor installers, siding experts, painters, gardeners – participated in, as Cheryl puts it, ” the saving of my life and the rebuilding together into my new.”
Citing Dr. Seuss’s “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” which she read to her late son on the day he graduated high school, “Will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed)…” Cheryl indeed had her prayers answered and can look forward to a brighter future.
