Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Spectrum Enterprise for Leadership and Innovation in Business Carrier Ethernet Services

STAMFORD, Conn. Spectrum Enterprise, a part of Charter Communications (NASDAQ: CHTR), announced today that it has been named the recipient of the 2017 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Innovation and Leadership for Business Carrier Ethernet Services.

Spectrum Enterprise earned this award because it effectively integrated and executed a post-acquisition strategic vision by expanding its footprint and fiber miles, deepening its vertical market expertise and aggressively investing in MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional (MEF-CECP) certification for employees.

“Business Ethernet services market revenues are continuing to grow, but with reduced growth rates as compared to in the past. The market has entered the mature stage of the product life cycle, with companies adopting different strategies to remain competitive. Spectrum Enterprise’s ability to effectively execute and integrate its acquisitions increased its market share from less than 2 percent in 2014 to an impressive 8.2 percent in 2016, leading to the company’s strong competitive positioning in the market,” said Roopa Honnachari, Industry Director, Frost & Sullivan.

Frost & Sullivan analysts compared market participants and measured performance through a rigorous 10-step research process including in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research. Spectrum Enterprise was evaluated alongside two competitors on two key factors across 10 separate criteria, including strategy effectiveness, customer service experience, brand equity, and competitive differentiation. Spectrum Enterprise scored high in both Strategy Innovation and Customer Impact, receiving an average rating of 9.5/10. By comparison, competitor 2 and competitor 3 earned overall scores of 8 and 7, respectively.

In its analysis, Frost & Sullivan noted that Spectrum Enterprise’s market share in the business carrier Ethernet market has impressively increased at a time when year-over-year growth rates for the total business Ethernet market are slowing down. This resulted in increased revenue growth and a strong competitive position in the market. Additional observations that highlight Spectrum Enterprise’s competitive differentiation include:

  • One of the broadest U.S. Ethernet footprints in the market, covering 182,000 fiber-lit buildings and 230,000 fiber miles spread across 41 states and 32 major metropolitan service areas;
  • Aggressively invested in MEF-CECP certification for its employees, resulting in a superior customer service experience;
  • A successfully implemented mid-market and vertical strategy to establish itself as a leading Ethernet provider among cable Multiple System Operators (MSOs)
