ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2006--This Mother's Day, Charter Telephone customers across the country are thinking anything but "mum's the word."

With 18 new markets launched across nine states since Mother's Day last year, almost four times as many subscribers now rely on Charter Telephone to connect with their families and friends.

"Mother's Day typically generates the highest volume of long distance telephone calls of any single day of the year," says Ted Schremp, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Charter Telephone. As part of a survey conducted by The National Council on the Aging, mothers are overwhelmingly clear that Mother's Day is the one day they expect to hear from their children.

And historical call volumes have shown that our mothers' expectations are usually met, at least on this one issue.

"As Charter Telephone customers, mothers and their children can catch up for as long as they want, no matter how far apart they live, and without worrying about counting minutes," says Mr. Schremp. The Charter Telephone calling plan provides customers with unlimited nationwide calling, as well as all the popular calling features and voice mail.

"By choosing Charter Telephone service, customers are also able to take advantage of the convenience of a single bill for all of their cable television, high speed internet, and telephone services, not to mention the great bundle discounts," says Mr. Schremp. "It's a fantastic value that's hard to beat."

Across the nation, Charter is now giving more than four million households a choice when selecting a telephone service provider, giving customers the opportunity to select the best value and service available in the market.

Charter Telephone is currently available in over 20 markets, including Worcester, Chicopee, and Western MA; Willimantic and Newton, CT; Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, Wausau and Madison, WI; St. Louis, MO; Tri Cities, Jackson and Blount County, TN; Asheville and Western NC; Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson, SC; Suburban Atlanta, GA; Keller, TX; Los Angeles: San Gabriel Valley, Long Beach, Glendale and Riverside/Inland Empire, CA.
