Charter Names Lynn M. Schmidt Vice President of Learning and Development

ST. LOUIS – The appointment of Lynn M. Schmidt as Vice President of Learning and Development for Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) was announced today by Lynne Ramsey, Corporate Vice President of Human Resources. Reporting to Ms. Ramsey, Ms. Schmidt will have overall responsibility for training and development of Charter's leadership, supervisory, technical, front line and customer care personnel.

Ms. Schmidt comes to Charter with over 18 years experience in human and organization development in the technology sector. She began her career in 1985 with MCI, where she held a variety of positions dealing with such issues as organization development, leadership effectiveness and change management. Ms. Schmidt joined Nextel Communications in 1999 and most recently served as Director of that company's Leadership Institute.

Ms. Schmidt holds a bachelor's in business from Quincy University, an MBA from Amber University and is currently at work on a Ph.D. in human and organization development at The Fielding Graduate Institute. She has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, is the author and editor of the 2002 American Society of Training & Development's In Action book Implementing Training Scorecards and co-author of The Leadership Scorecard which will be released in May of 2004.
