Charter Makes NASCAR Debut This Weekend at Daytona

ST. LOUIS – Fresh on the heels of winning the pole position for the Daytona 500, Greg Biffle will take to the track Friday to qualify his Charter Communications-sponsored No. 60 Ford Taurus for the Hersheys Kisses 300 to be run Valentine's Day. Biffle is one of only a handful of drivers attempting to compete in both the Nextel Series and the Busch Series throughout the 2004 NASCAR race season.
Charter is primary sponsor of Biffle's Busch car and a secondary sponsor of the No. 16 Nextel car that will occupy the pole position for Sunday's Daytona 500.
“Greg Biffle has won our hearts, and those of thousands of NASCAR fans, so it's especially fitting that his first race for Charter will be on Valentine's Day. We're looking for Greg to be at or near the head of the pack on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the NASCAR season,” said David Andersen, Charter Senior Vice President of Communications.
Andersen said Charter's NASCAR sponsorship was triggered in part by the close alignment between Charter markets and the sites for the Busch Series races. "Fully half of the 34 races will be held in markets where we holds the local cable franchise and several others are in close proximity to Charter markets. The sponsorship provides a unique platform for us to promote our advanced broadband services, including HDTV, interactive TV, video on demand, high speed Internet service, and more."
Andersen said Charter has a mobile marketing campaign to display their advanced services and a replica of the No. 60 Busch car in their local markets throughout the season. “We're hooked on NASCAR, and we think race fans will get hooked on Charter.”
