ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 2009-- Students from kindergarten to graduate school are increasingly reliant on the Internet to assist with research, surfing the web, listening to music, and communicating with friends and family. And Charter’s website, charter.com, is a popular web address for those looking for a good value for high-speed Internet service.

A study conducted recently by Professor Kouider Mokhtari, of Iowa State University found that 95 percent of students reported using the Internet “every day or almost every day” to do things like e-mail (90.4 percent), chat using instant messaging (63.8 percent), surf the Web (56.2 percent), listen to music (52.5 percent) and conduct research (47.7 percent). The study appeared in the April 2009 issue of the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy.

“Charter.com is an increasingly popular destination for our customers during this time of year,” said Jim Gallagher, Charter’s Director of Online Marketing. “We know that our high-speed Internet customers value having the fastest and most reliable Internet speeds available[1], and the variety of online Back-to-School bundled offers.” Students and their families also like Charter’s Laptop-A-Day Sweepstakes which began July 15, 2009 and runs through September 15. “Our winners are grateful,” said Mr. Gallagher. “In tough times, Charter is happy to assist students and families preparing for school.”
