Charter Communications Installs 500,000th Digital Cable Customer

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 6, 2000--Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) today celebrated the recent installation of its 500,000th Charter Digital Cable(TM) customer, continuing the company's rapid growth in the deployment of advanced video services.

Representatives from Charter and Discovery Networks, creator of Discovery Channel and eight new networks on Charter Digital Cable, presented Ida Tripoli of Burbank, Calif. with a large-screen television and other merchandise as thank-you gifts.

Featuring premiere original series as well as daily news and live on-location reporting, these eight new networks devote a 24-hour schedule to Charter viewers with specific interests in science and technology, lifestyle and home improvement, people and personalities, aviation, world history and cultures, as well as fun, engaging children's and Spanish language programming. BBC America offers Charter viewers the best of British television, specially selected for an American audience.
