Charter Communications and KGI To Market Over 1,200 Towers to Wireless Carriers

Share Article:

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 2000--Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) today signed a Tower Listing Agreement with privately held KGI. Charter plans to launch a national tower licensing campaign, which allows the company to take full advantage of the licensing revenue potential from its more than 1,200 cable towers located throughout the country. KGI will market the available space on the towers to the wireless industry, which has a growing demand for towers as antenna sites.

KGI will first perform a nationwide site audit of Charter's tower inventory and compile an accurate, updated listing of the towers. Each tower will have an available electronic profile comprised of digital photographs, map images, and site-specific data which will help the carriers and their site acquisition groups quickly identify key towers that meet specific search criteria. KGI will then help Charter negotiate Master Licensing Agreements with the wireless carriers to further streamline the site licensing process.

"This agreement will enable Charter Communications to leverage its tower assets and maximize their revenue potential by licensing space on its cable towers to the wireless industry," said John Pietri, Charter's Senior Vice President, Engineering.

"We are excited about the opportunity to work with Charter, an innovative company with a great reputation and tremendous growth record," said Mike Kampen, Senior Partner at KGI. "With the addition of Charter Communications to our tower portfolio, KGI now offers collocation opportunities on more than 2,000 towers across the country."
