Charter Appoints Willie Epps Vice President of Management Services and Deputy Compliance Officer

ST. LOUIS -- Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CHTR) today announced the appointment of Willie J. Epps Jr. to Vice President of Management Services and Deputy Compliance Officer, a newly created position reporting to Carl Vogel, President and CEO.

Mr. Epps was previously in private practice as an attorney and counselor at law with The Epps Law Firm LLC in Kansas City, Missouri, where he specialized in all types of civil and criminal litigation. His civil cases have involved contract disputes, vexatious refusal to pay claims and premises liability. His criminal defense practice has included grand jury and other investigations, indictment and pretrial proceedings, and trials at the state and federal levels. Mr. Epps was previously Assistant Special Counsel, Office of Special Counsel John C. Danforth, The Waco Investigation; Special Assistant U. S. Attorney, Office of the U. S. Attorney, District of Massachusetts; Defense Counsel to U.S. military bases in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California, Florida, & Nebraska; Trial Counsel to Air Force Bases in Goodfellow, Texas and Hanscom, Massachusetts; Foreign Associate for Houthoff (now Houthoff Buruma) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and a White House Intern, Executive Office of the President, in Washington, DC.

Mr. Vogel said Mr. Epps will serve as a resource to Charter Corporate and Field Operations and Engineering Management on compliance and ethics matters, signal theft and security, and contract administration. In making the announcement, Mr. Vogel said, "We're very fortunate to have recruited Willie Epps to this new and important position. His background and experience in litigation and contract disputes will allow us to improve our policies and procedures in these important areas."

A cum laude graduate of Amherst College, Mr. Epps received his J.D. from The Harvard Law School where he was a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau.

Mr. Epps has received numerous awards and honors, including the Young Lawyers Division Award of Merit by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis; the Chairperson's Award from The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers Section Council; the “Up and Coming Lawyer” Award by Missouri Lawyers Weekly; the Muhammad Kenyatta Young Alumni Award from Harvard Law School; and was the youngest ever to be elected an Amherst College Alumni Trustee. He received an Honorable Discharge from Active Duty as a Captain with the United States Air Force JAG, and received The Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, first oak leaf cluster.
