In partnership with Rebuilding Together, Charter’s national philanthropic initiative “Charter our Community” comes to Long Beach, California on April 30

LONG BEACH, Calif. – More than 30 Charter Communications (NASDAQ: CHTR) volunteers will be in Long Beach this Saturday to help renovate the home of a family in need. The project is part of the company’s national philanthropic initiative, Charter our Community, a program that seeks to improve 25,000 homes in the Charter footprint by 2020.

Charter volunteers will begin work at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 30, in the 1800 block of West 32nd Street in Long Beach, and will continue working through the afternoon.

Charter’s national initiative is in partnership with Rebuilding Together and aims to provide critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and safety and energy-efficient upgrades to strengthen communities. In California, Charter is partnering with the Rebuilding Together Long Beach affiliate to rebuild one Long Beach home. The company is providing a financial contribution and more than 30 employee volunteers to work alongside other Rebuilding Together volunteers to make essential repairs.

“We know the importance of a safe and healthy home and want to do what we can to help others in the communities in which we live and work. That’s why we’re so excited to bring the national Charter our Community program to Long Beach,” said Wally Bakare, area vice president for Charter’s California market. “This is our second Charter our Community initiative in California, and we’ve been impressed with the talents and commitment of the Rebuilding Together Long Beach volunteers. Our employees are excited to join with this talented team of skilled tradesmen and women and local volunteers to support a worthwhile initiative.”

Charter’s program has been implemented nationally, across the company’s 28-state service area. The program is anchored by an online hub that features inspirational stories of impact, homeowner resources, education and activities that will help people maintain safe and healthy homes. Since launching in late 2014, the program has helped improve more than 1,170 homes.
