ABC Cable Networks Group and Charter Communications Complete ABC Family Carriage Agreement

BURBANK, Calif., Jun 13, 2002 (ENTERTAINMENT WIRE) -- ABC Cable Networks Group has entered into an agreement with Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CHTR) for the continued distribution of ABC Family, it was announced today by Anne Sweeney, president, ABC Cable Networks Group and Disney Channel Worldwide and Carl Vogel, Charter president and chief executive officer.

Available in more than 84 million homes, ABC Family features quality, contemporary entertainment for all members of the family including original series and movies, timeless classics from Disney and encore presentations of the best ABC programs and specials.

ABC Family's ratings have increased steadily since the network was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in October 2001. During the recent May sweeps period, household ratings were up 24 percent, while total viewers climbed 23 percent and adults 18-49 were up 25 percent versus May 2001. To date this year, ABC Family household and adult 18-49 deliveries are up 29 percent (0.9 vs 0.7) and 33 percent (0.4 vs 0.3), respectively over last year.
