ST. LOUIS – (May 31, 2017)Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) will be joined by Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens today in announcing plans to expand the company’s Broadband Technician Apprenticeship Program to Charter’s entire 41-state service area. The Broadband Technician Apprenticeship Program comprises classroom, online and on-the-job training for technicians as they progress in their careers at Charter. Veterans who participate in the program are able to receive GI Bill benefits while they earn a paycheck from Charter and build careers with the company.

“Our commitment to an outstanding customer experience requires a devotion to craftsmanship among our employees,” said Charter President and Chief Operating Officer John Bickham. “The veterans who work at Charter are best-in-class when it comes to so many of the key attributes of craftsmanship: punctuality, attention to detail, resourcefulness and communication.

“To further accelerate our hiring of veterans, particularly in our technical operations organization, we plan to expand our Broadband Apprenticeship Program for veterans to the rest of Missouri and our entire 41-state service area. For customers, this commitment helps ensure the technician visiting their home has the skills, training and service mindset to ensure a great experience; for our employees who are veterans, they can earn their well-deserved GI Bill benefits while building a career at Charter.”

Gov. Greitens will honor veterans and speak to Charter employees at the company’s new technical training center in St. Ann, which opened in fall 2016.

“As a veteran and former Navy SEAL, I’m inspired to see this tremendous effort by Charter to supply our military men and women with a path for post-military career growth, quality training and excellent benefits, while tapping into a valuable GI resource to help create a stronger workforce here in Missouri,” Gov. Greitens said.

Charter’s Broadband Technician Apprenticeship Program focuses its training on several areas relevant to a technician’s daily work: customer service, safety and the skills required to perform installations and service calls. Upon completion, technicians are awarded a national certification through the U.S. Department of Labor.

More than 1,000 employees are currently enrolled in the Broadband Apprenticeship Program across Charter systems in five states, including its Kansas City, Mo., system. Overall, the company employees more than 11,500 veterans, about 13 percent of its workforce of more than 92,000. Charter is proud to partner with several leading organizations serving veterans, including Hiring Our Heroes, Military Spouse Employment Partnership, Mission Media, Partnership for Youth Success, RallyPoint, Recruit Military and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Overall Charter plans to hire 20,000 employees over the next four years as the company returns former Time Warner Cable call center jobs to the U.S., insources its workforce and grows to meet customer demand for its Spectrum services.
