NEW YORK — Spectrum News today announced the launch of “The Big Deal with Errol Louis,” a new weekly half-hour political news program airing on all English-language Spectrum News networks across the country. Hosted by award-winning Spectrum News political anchor Errol Louis, “The Big Deal” will examine the top political stories of the moment through the lens of Spectrum News’ extensive network of journalists embedded in their respective communities, giving viewers around the country a local view on what is driving politics in America.

The prime-time program will air on Friday evenings, with its first episode tomorrow, March 1. Airtimes will vary by network and viewers should check local listings.

“They say all politics is local, and at Spectrum News we believe that wholeheartedly,” said Sam Singal, Group Vice President, Editorial and Content at Spectrum Networks. “All national issues start locally. The political anchors, journalists and reporters at our networks across the country have the insight and expertise to provide objective coverage of the issues shaping local communities through our signature storytelling and analysis. I can’t think of anyone better to lead this effort than Errol.”

Each week, “The Big Deal with Errol Louis” will enlist the best of Spectrum News’ political journalists across the country to provide boots-on-the-ground analysis from far outside the Beltway. It will mix developments from the presidential campaign trail with real-world issues motivating voters and impacting their lives. “The Big Deal” will approach issues with thoughtful dialogue and analysis to get to the heart of a story.

“Too much political reporting is focused on just a few national issues and political personalities,” said Louis. “We will be looking at what is really going on in American communities, outside of social media and the Beltway, and highlighting the issues impacting people’s day-to-day lives, like education, immigration, and the economy.”

In addition to anchoring political coverage across Spectrum News, Errol Louis hosts NY1’s “Inside City Hall,” a nightly prime-time show that focuses on New York politics. He regularly interviews top political and cultural leaders, including every New York mayor and governor this century, and has been a fixture in New York political media for more than 20 years. He has moderated more than two dozen political debates and was part of a panel of moderators at a 2016 Democratic presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

The show will air on Spectrum News networks around the country, as well as Spectrum News+ on the Spectrum News App for mobile, Xumo Stream Box, Roku, and Apple TV streaming devices.
